Our Beliefs

“In essential beliefs we have unity;

In non-essential beliefs we have liberty;

In all our beliefs we show charity.”

  • We believe in one God—Father, Son, & Holy Spirit.

We believe in God the Father, creator of the universe.

We believe in God the Son, Jesus Christ, the eternal Word, the one and only Savior; Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, both fully human and fully divine; Who lived a sinless life; Who suffered and was crucified as an atonement for sin; Who rose again bodily from the dead on the third day; Who ascended into Heaven; and Who will return in victory to rule forever.

We believe in the Holy Spirit: who convicts of sin; Who indwells every Christian; Who helps us in our weakness and intercedes for us in prayer; and Who empowers us to a victorious Christian life.

  • We believe in Good News—the cross of Jesus changes everything

That man, created by God, willfully sinned against God and is consequently lost and without hope apart from Jesus Christ.

That salvation—the forgiveness of sins—is freely given when one puts their faith in Jesus, the grace He showed on the cross, and His victorious resurrection from the dead.

That those who have received salvation through faith in Jesus are invited to the fullness of life by following the commands Jesus has given us: to repent of sin, to be baptized, to proclaim the Gospel, and to love and serve the world just as Jesus Himself did.

  • We believe in the Church—God's people on mission.

We believe that the Church is not a building or place, but a people saved and sent into all the world by Jesus Christ to be a Kingdom community that brings heaven down to earth.

We believe that the Church is being built by Jesus through His Holy Spirit found in every believer and that every believer would more fully experience the life God has invited them into by being a part of a church community.

We believe that the writers of the Bible encourage the Church to live in the Holy Spirit’s leading in order to:

    • Meet together regularly for fellowship, worship, teaching, and the Lord's Supper.
    • Use our natural abilities and spiritual gifts to serve one another.
    • Love one another, bear with one another, accept one another, and forgive one another.
    • Seek unity, agreement, and peace with one another.
    • Bear one another's burdens and pray for one another.
    • Spur one another to love and good deeds.
    • Pursue personal holiness and obedience to God's Word.
    • Strive together to fulfill the Great Commission.
  • We believe in the Bible—God's perfect Word.

We believe God inspired the original writings of the Bible and those original writings were consequently without error.

We believe that the Bible is the final authority for all matters of faith, truth, morality, and Christian living.

We believe that the writings of the Bible are all centered around Jesus—His entrance into the world, the salvation He brings, and the Kingdom He invites us into.

We believe that Jesus, a Jewish teacher of the Scriptures, placed a tremendous importance on the Scriptures. Not only did they play an essential role in His life and ministry, but Jesus Himself also lived as if they were authoritative. He both taught that:

1.) the Scriptures were not merely a tool for self improvement or a weapon for the religious, but rather a pathway for building a life centered around loving God and loving people AND

2.) fulfilled the true meaning of the Scriptures by living a perfect life of perfectly loving God and perfectly loving people.

And just as loving God and loving people go together, being a mature follower of Jesus and regularly immersing ourselves in the Sciptures are inseparable. The only way to live the life that Jesus lived is to take on the lifestylestle of Jesus. In following His footsteps of regularly reading Scripture, we pray that His words become our words, that His thoughts become our thoughts, and His heart become our heart, so that we may be in truer community with God and one another.

Our Values

We are committed to living out the values of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our mission is to love God, love others, and share the good news of Jesus Christ.

Listen to God.

Our Sunday services feature engaging teaching that truly teach people the Gospel, how to walk with God and how to hear from God in a life-changing way. This is a place that believers and spiritual investigators can hear the Gospel of Jesus.

Love People.

Our Community Groups connect to all people no matter what age or stage of life. We are building relational support systems so people feel loved and genuinely cared for by our community.

Learn Your Purpose.

We believe that God has given every person unique spiritual gifts. At Akouo, we will encourage each and every person to discover them and use them to serve the world. We will empower each and every person to serve in the unique way they have been created.

Link to Our Community.

We believe our church shouldn’t exist only to the people that attend. Akouo will listen to our community’s needs and do our best to meet them. By meeting their physical and social needs first, that will give us an opportunity to share the Gospel.

Our Leaders & Teams

We could not do what we do without the amazing leaders who join us in loving God & serving our community faithfully every week. It takes several servant leaders of different skills, talents, & passions to pull off our Sunday gatherings, host Community Groups throughout the city, and build the Kingdom here on earth as is it in heaven.
